In politics, each and every victory is the culmination of efforts of many. It's a fact - candidates do not win elections without the talents, perseverance and hard work of many volunteers.

The riding of Yellowhead includes areas north to Swan Hills and Fox Creek, west of Grande Cache to the BC border, as far east as Onoway, Alberta Beach, Drayton Valley, including the O'Chiese and Sunchild reserves, and south to the Brazeau River in Jasper National Park. It's a geographically massive riding with an eclectic and diverse population of 97,988.

We need to reach a lot of people and cover a lot of ground and we'll need a lot of help to do that. Since 1979, constituents have elected the Progressive Conservative Party, the Reform Party and the Canadian Alliance Party, followed by the Conservatives. In 2006, the Conservatives held 71.19 per cent of the vote with the NDP coming second at 10.95 per cent. It's time for truly progressive and democratic representation.

It's time we let the Conservatives know that working families count, sustainability matters. And as constituents and voters of Yellowhead who will be living, working and playing in the riding long after the coming term, we need to send the message that the future is ours.
