- Studied engineering at the University of Saskatchewan before accepting a position as manager of a fish processing plant operated by the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool
- Managed a seed cleaning plant
- Moving to Jasper, apprenticed as a carpenter and has worked in that trade since 1999
- Currently sits on the Alberta NDP Provincial Council as the delegate for West Yellowhead
- Member of the Royal Canadian Legion
- Enjoys horseback riding, hiking, camping and climbing.
Community Activities: Is a director of the Jasper Tourism and Commerce Committee and a member of the Jasper Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee. Is an executive member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 31. Participates in various charity fundraising initiatives.
